The nominations for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards were announced today, honoring the best in film and television. Carol secured five nominations for Best Motion Picture, Director (Todd Haynes), Actress (Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara), and Best Original Score (Barter Curwell). Fellow films The Big Short, The Revenant, and Steve Jobs followed with four nominations each.
In your living room, American Crime, Fargo, Mr. Robot, Outlander, Transparent, and Wolf Hall snagged three nominations each. Actors Idris Elba, Lily Tomlin, Mark Rylance, and Alicia Vikander scored two nominations each along with filmmaker Tom McCarthy, who is nominated for Director and Screenplay for Spotlight.

Denzel Washington will be awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the ceremony. The actor has won two Oscars, a Tony, and two Golden Globes. He’s been in critical and commercial hits like American Gangster, Crimson Tide, and Philadelphia, as well as portray real-life figures such as Malcolm X (Malcolm X) and boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter (The Hurricane) to critical acclaim. Washington was last seen in 2014’s The Equalizer and will next be seen in The Magnificent Seven slated for September 23, 2016.
Ricky Gervais returns to host the awards show for the fourth time on January 10, 2016.
