A Working Man is a action film which comes directed by David Ayer who some may know for his work on Suicide Squad (2016) or The Beekeeper (2024). This film stars Jason Statham. It has a run time of 1h 56 min.
This was a film that looked like a lot of fun when I first saw the posters and the trailers. It’s about a working man, who gets a given a chance to have a job in construction. His bosses daughter gets kidnapped/human trafficked by a gang and it’s up to the working man (Jason Statham) to rescue the girl.
This movie is for people who love to see action movies in the cinema and especially if you like action movies that are one man army adventures. Think of films like John Wick, Rambo and The Mechanic. This movie is also similar to what you’d expect from a typical Jason Statham movie.
Is it good though? I thought it was, the Russian gang who are the bad guys in the film were made interesting enough that they felt dangerous and bad enough that I was looking forward to seeing Jason Statham’s working man character take them down. Jason Statham was great in this movie as well and I like seeing him these types of films at the cinema.
As far as action movies go for 2025, this is possibly the best of the year so far. We haven’t seen the release of all of the blockbuster films yet and the John Wick universe film starring Ana De Armas is still yet to release. But depending on how the year goes, I feel confident that A Working Man might be close to the top of this particular genre of action films this year.
A Working Man is for those who love one man army action movies. They want action, they want fights, they want gunfire. This has it all and it’s very entertaining. Go see it this week if this is the type of movie you feel like watching, there’s not really anything better than this in April to see in this genre.
