Australian Made Film The Lego Movie Smashes US Box Office Records

The Lego Movie which was produced by Animal Logic studios in Sydney Australia has performed incredibly well in the United States over the weekend. The Lego Movie was able to make $61.1 million dollars over the course of its opening weekend. It is currently the biggest opening weekend for a film in 2014 and broke the record for the largest opening of an animated film for the month of February.

The Lego Movie has been a collaboration between Warner Brother’s pictures and Village Roadshow films and is a full length film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The movie is about an average Lego character known as Emmet who is voiced by Chris Pratt who is mistaken as something known as the Special and the person most able to save the world. The Lego Movie also features voices from Morgan Freeman as Vitruvius, Will Farrell as Lord Business, Liam Neeson as Lord Business’ henchmen and Elisabeth Banks as Wyldstyle.
