Blu-ray Releases: 12/15/13 – 12/21/13

This big week on Blu-ray. Australia gets five titles while America gets seven. Who has the best titles though? Let’s find out:

AUSTRALIA RELEASES

Kick-Ass 2 kicks its way to Blu-ray this week. The superhero action comedy had a $28 million budget and made $59.5 million worldwide making the film a box office success. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy. We loved Kick-Ass 2, read that review right here.

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones comes to Blu-ray. The fantasy drama had a $60 million budget and made $80.1 million worldwide making the film a mild box office success. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy.

One Direction: This is Us comes to Blu-ray this week. The concert film had a $10 million budget and made $68.2 million worldwide making the film a box office success. Three different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D and Ultraviolet, one with a DVD and Ultraviolet, and another with just an Ultraviolet copy.

Pain & Gain comes to Blu-ray in Australia this week. The Mark Wahlberg-The Rock action film had a $26 million budget and made $86.1 million worldwide making the film a box office success. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy.

We’re the Millers finds its way to Blu-ray this week. The Jason Sudeikis-Jennifer Aniston comedy had a $37 million budget and made $269.1 million worldwide making We’re the Millers a box office success. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy.

AMERICA RELEASES

Elysium comes to Blu-ray this week. The Matt Damon sci-fi had a $115 million budget and made $286.1 million worldwide making the film a box office success. The Family comes to Blu-ray this week. The Robert de Niro-Tommy Lee Jones action comedy had a $30 million budget and currently has $36.8 million in the box office making the film a current mild box office success. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and Ultraviolet copy.

Prisoners comes to Blu-ray this week. The Hugh Jackman-Jake Gyllenhaal action thriller had a $46 million budget and made $118.4 million worldwide making the film a box office success. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and Ultraviolet copy.

Whew, that wraps it up this week. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Australia’s films average out to 40% while America’s films average out to 49% making America the winner. The highest rated film was America’s Prisoners with an 81% while the lowest was Australia’s Mortal Instruments: City of Bones with 12%. Do you plan on picking up any of these titles?
