This week on Blu-ray: Australia and America both get four new releases. Who has the best selection though? Let’s find out:
AUSTRALIAN RELEASES
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 comes to Blu-ray this week. The animation had a $78 million budget and currently has $272.9 million worldwide. Two different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without, both come with an Ultraviolet copy (NOTE: The 3D Blu-ray doesn’t appear to have a 2D Blu-ray with it).

The Counselor comes to Blu-ray this week. The Ridley Scott thriller had a $25 million budget and made $70.2 million worldwide. The Blu-ray doesn’t appear to come with any DVD or digital copies.

The Fifth Estate arrives on Blu-ray this week. The Benedict Cumberbatch drama had a $28 million budget and made $8.5 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a Digital Copy.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes to Blu-ray this week. The Jennifer Lawrence action/adventure had a $130 million budget and currently has $864.2 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy. We absolutely loved Catching Fire, read our review right here.

AMERICAN RELEASES
American Hustle comes to Blu-ray this week. The David O. Russell 10-time Oscar nominee 0-time Oscar winner had a $40 million budget and currently has $250.4 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy. We adored American Hustle, read that review right here.

Frozen freezes up Blu-rays this week. The Disney animation had a $150 million budget and currently has $1 billion worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and Digital Copy (NOTE: A 3D Blu-ray is not available at this time. One is rumored to come out in October).

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom comes to Blu-ray this week. The Idris Elba drama had an unknown budget and currently has $27.3 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy. We enjoyed the movie, read that review right here.

That’s it for this week on Blu-ray. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Australia’s films average out to 57% while America’s films average out to 80% making America the winner this week. The highest rated film was America’s American Hustle with a “Certified Fresh” 93% while the lowest was Australia’s The Counselor with 34%. Do you plan on picking up any of these titles?
