Blu-ray Releases 4/13/14 – 4/19/14

This week on Blu-ray: Australia has two releases while America has five. Who has the best titles though? Let’s find out:

AUSTRALIAN RELEASES

American Hustle hits Blu-ray this week. The drama had a $40 million budget and made $251.1 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy. We gave the movie our highest honor, read the review right here.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug fires up Blu-ray shelves this week. The fantasy flick had an unknown budget and currently has $952.8 million worldwide. Two different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without, but both come with DVD and Ultraviolet copies. We loved the movie, check out our review right here.

AMERICAN RELEASES

Black Nativity comes to Blu-ray this week. The musical had a $17.5 million budget and made $7.4 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD, Digital, and Ultraviolet copy.

The Nut Job comes to Blu-ray this week. The animation had a $42 million budget and currently has $69.1 million worldwide. Two different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without, but both come with DVD, Digital, and Ultraviolet copies.

Philomena comes to Blu-ray this week. The drama had a $12 million budget and currently has $100 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet copy. We absolutely adored Philomena, read our review right here.

Ride Along rides home to Blu-ray this week. The comedy had a $25 million budget and currently has $149.3 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy. You should probably read our review of Ride Along before you buy the Blu-ray. You can find that right here.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty comes to Blu-ray this week. The comedy had a $90 million budget and made $186.3 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD, Digital, and Ultraviolet copy. We really liked the movie, check out our review here.

That’s it for this week on Blu-ray. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Australia’s films average out to 84% while America’s films average out to 44% making Australia the winner this week. The highest rated film was Australia’s American Hustle with a “Certified Fresh” 93% while the lowest was America’s The Nut Job with 11%. Do you plan on picking up any of these titles?
