Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day Take a Vacation

Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day are in negotiations to star in “Vacation”, the remake/reboot/sequel to “National Lampoon’s Vacation” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ed Helms plays Rusty Griswold (originally played by Anthony Michael Hall), the son of Clark and Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, who are making cameos in the new film), who decides to take his family on a similar vacation to the one he took as a child. Christina Applegate was known to be in negotiations to co-star as Rusty’s wife.

Hemsworth character is Stone Crandall, an up-and-coming anchorman who is married to Rusty’s sister. It’s unknown how big the role will be.

Charlie Day’s role is just a cameo as a river rafting guide.

The film will be written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The duo have written “Horrible Bosses”, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”, and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”. This will be their directorial debut.

Vacation currently has no release date but is expected to begin shooting next month after it was delayed from its original filming date in July.
