Does Overwatch Have Crossplay?
If you love playing Overwatch on one platform, for example Nintendo Switch, you might want to maybe go on to the PC sometimes and also play there. If you want to do this, you might be wondering, Does Overwatch Have Crossplay? No it doesn’t have crossplay.
We will update this story if any news or changes emerge from Blizzard about this, but as the game has been out for many years already, it’s unlikely it will ever become a thing that’s implemented.
Has Blizzard said anything about Overwatch and Crossplay yet?
Blizzard has publicly commented about Overwatch and crossplay in a post on their website it says:
“PC and console versions of Blizzard Games are separate and do not share progress, nor allow for play on other platforms. PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Playstation players all play in separate ecosystems. On PC, your friends list will be populated by your Blizzard Account friends. On Xbox, you will be part of the Xbox Live network, on Nintendo your friends will be derived from the Nintendo network, and on Playstation your friends list will be derived from the Playstation Network. If you wish to play on several platforms, the games must be purchased on each platform separately.“
Where is the best place to play Overwatch?
As Overwatch doesn’t have crossplay and the game is also quite competitive, you need to be careful where you choose to level up. If you spend all your time levelling up on the PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, then you might as well stay there if you enjoy that platform. However most Overwatch competitive games are on PC. The Overwatch league is filled with PC players and most of the famous Twitch streamers or YouTubers that are at the top of most competitions in the game play on PC. If you are wanting to play Overwatch to play in the competitive ranked modes, then we recommend playing on PC. That’s where all the best players are. If you just like the game and want something kind of casual, then by all means, play on one of the consoles. The platform of your choice should be the one your enjoy the most and get the most out of for your needs.
Here is a sample of the type of games competitive PC players are experiencing from the OWL Twitter, however this is of course at the highest point in competitive play. Most people will be in bronze to platinum where skill levels are completely different.
