Although Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was pushed from this fall into early 2016, Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated end to Nathan Drake’s adventure is shaping up to be another bombastic adventure. Last year when we last checked in with Nate he was surrounded by henchmen in the wilderness shooting, climbing, and fighting to survive. Now… well he’s still in danger (when isn’t he?) but this time he’s in a jeep.
The demo presented at Sony’s conference this year showed off some good ol’ fashion Nate and Sully mayhem. It’s undoubtedly Uncharted. The wise cracks and action were on point. The visuals were crisp and the driving set piece seen in the video below looks fun and frantic. Based on the demos shown off, the game aims to be more open than prior installments. Not an open world, but a game consisting of multiple routes that lead to the same point. The E3 demo shows just what I mean. When driving Nate has different choices on where he can take the vehicle; main roads, side roads, a combination of them. The game will be a linear scripted experience guided by the narrative pacing masters over at Naughty Dog, but having a more open areas seems to be a step in the right direction. It’s going to be interesting to see if and how Uncharted 4 can surpass its predecessors. Not much is currently know about the story, besides what was shown last year regarding the recently unretired Nathan Drake, his brother Sam and pirate treasure once belonging to Henry Avery.
