Home Again Review

Home Again Review – Spoiler Free

Home Again is a film which comes directed by Hallie Meyers Shyer who also wrote the film. It stars Reese Witherspoon, Michael Sheen, Lake Bell, Nat Wolff, Candice Bergen, Jon Rudnitsky and  Pico Alexander. Home Again follows the life of a single mother, who has a sudden to her life change when she allows three guys she just met to move into the guest home at her house.

In this film, Reese Witherspoon stars in something she’s quite good in, a romantic comedy. Although the story is unlike many romantic comedy films I’ve seen from the genre, it is quite rare in year that something comes along that is added to the genre at all, I don’t know why, but films like this aren’t too common in 2017.

The story in Home Again is only just okay as far as I can see. Reese Witherspoon’s character, Alice, is turning one year older and is currently a single mother. She lives a rich lifestyle, being the daughter of one of Hollywood’s finest directors, she seems to have it all. Except, she’s single of course. So she goes a bit too crazy on her birthday and takes a guy home with her, unfortunately, he never leaves and is even invited to stay. Even crazier, he’s only in his 20’s and he brings his friends.

I’m not going to go into the plot too much. But there are some interesting things in there. Such as what happens when you bring someone like this into the family home. Strangely enough though, the three guys, are all super nice and behave incredibly well. A Seth Rogen 20 year old, they are not. These are all good people and they even help out around the home and with her kids. One of them even helps out with Alice’s daughter’s school play.

Reese Witherspoon in Home Again – Home Again Review

The actors in here are all quite good. Reese Witherspoon is always somehow very entertaining to watch. Even though this isn’t likely her best film, she’s still a lot of fun to see at the cinema. I also thought that Michael Sheen was rather good and wished he was in the movie a lot more. As for the three, guys, nice as they are, they’re all only just okay. Although towards the end I felt I had enough of those three.

Overall Home Again is a funny film to watch at the cinema this weekend. It may not be the best romantic comedy in the genre and maybe not the best of the bunch of films to choose from this week. But it has a light tone to it and a funny enough storyline which isn’t really boring at all. Reese Witherspoon and Michael Sheen do make the experience quite enjoyable and if you’re a fan of either of these two, you’ll likely have a good time with this. If you do miss it at the cinema, this is certainly worth watching as a home release.
