It has been announced today by Warner Brothers Pictures and Roadshow Films that Hugh Jackman best known for his role as Wolverine will be cast as Blackbeard the pirate in an all new Peter Pan film. The new Peter Pan film is a live action installment which will be directed by Joe Wright who is best known for his films such as Atonement and Pride & Prejudice.
The announcement was made by Greg Silverman (president of creative development and worldwide production) who said “Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences. We know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure.”
As of now the film is currently untitled, but director Joe Wright will be working from a screenplay written by Jason Fuchs along with producers Paul Webster and Greg Berlanti.
The film currently has a release date in Australia for July 15, 2015 and July 17, 2015 in the United States. Although dates may change.
