Indie Review: Human Simulator

Human Simulator; for those days when you just can’t be human.

Whenever I attend a con, I always make sure to check out the Indie Developers. I hunt out the most, insane, weirdest, cutest or just classic concepts and see what my new favourite game will be. At PAXaus in October last year, I was scouring the Indie area and I was approached by a developer with a very interesting “I love Humans” mug.

The first time I played Human Simulator was at the event, and to be completely fair, I wasn’t really paying attention to the game – I was talking to the developers, Lyre Lyre Studios. Human Simulator is a physics game, similar to that of “Octodad”. You can control Hugh Mann’s head, and sometimes his limbs to create chaos by completing the simplest of tasks.

The Interview

In order to survive in the real world, we need money and that means a job. Hugh Mann, who has just arrived on Earth (I assume) needs to control himself in his job interview with “HandyJobs Inc”. Hugh needs to imitate simple gestures to the manager such as “nod head”, “stare blankly” and “communicate with only eyes” to win a position in the company.

If Hugh can complete the job interview without causing too much suspicion then he can move to the first job — a Crane Operator, then to a Security Guard and on to the last job as a Nuclear Technician.

Using your mouse and some keystrokes, you control Hugh’s head, limbs and items relative to the situation.

Conclusion

I played Human Simulator on stream a few weeks ago and it is tricky, fun and totally weird. The puns are hilarious and I spent way too much time being “weird” and laughing. my head off at Hugh’s head spinning. If you are a fan of Surgeon Simulator, and those other Physics Bending game types, then this game is for you.

Now available on Steam for PC – Thank you to the guys at Lyre Lyre Studios for providing me with a copy of Human Simulator.

Good for laughs, children friendly, challenging. Not as polished as some games, but still a great concept.
