Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron (director of the first two Terminator films, Aliens, Titanic, and Avatar) influenced a teeny part of the ending of the 2014 superhero blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Bryan Singer, director of Days of Future Past and its soon to be released sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, told ComingSoon.net on the set of Apocalypse that Cameron wasn’t pleased with a particular edit in the final scene of Days of Future Past.

Details on the ending of Days of Future Past follow!

Singer said, “[In an older cut of the film] when Wolverine is walking around [at the end] he’s seeing things in kind of a blurriness. So I sent that to Jim [Cameron] and Jim called me up and goes ‘Bryan, that blurry thing made me think that the wool was going to be pulled out from under me and I was not satisfied. I thought it was going to be a lie and it had failed and it would all be dark, and then suddenly it was okay.’” The edit was then pulled from the film.

ComingSoon.net has the full quote from Singer in the article linked above. There’s also a bit in there about how the edit that Cameron saw did not include the major cameos at the end, and what Cameron thought about missing out on that footage.

X-Men: Days of Future Past scored a 10/10 from us back in the day. We said the film is, “intense, badass, and emotional.” The film took in a whopping $747.8 million worldwide, the largest gross in the seven-film X-Men franchise. Days of Future Past is now available on Blu-ray.

The eighth X-Men film, the spinoff Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, will be released on February 12, 2016. The ninth film in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, is set to be released on May 27, 2016. From Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer returns to direct, Simon Kinberg returned to write, and actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, and Lucas Till come back for another go.

The tenth film, the spinoff Gambit starring Channing Tatum as the titular character, is coming out on October 7, 2016, and the eleventh X-Men film, a third spinoff Wolverine movie, has a March 3, 2017 release date. The X-Men franchise started in 2000 with the release of X-Men.
