John Woo Would Direct a James Bond Movie

John Woo said he is up for taking the helm of a James Bond movie in an interview with The Film Stage published Monday.

The director-writer-producer said he met with Bond producers a while ago. Of course, nothing came to fruition.

“I met the producers many years ago and they expressed interest in having me do it,” Woo said. “But somehow that never came about. I look forward to doing it someday. I really love James Bond.”

The director is promoting his new film Manhunt. It’s an adaption of the novel Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare which is written by Juko Nishimura. The film premiered at festivals in Toronto and Venice. It hits Asian theaters starting Oct. 5 in Singapore while it has yet to have an American release, according to IMDb.

Woo has previously directed such films as Hard Boiled, Mission: Impossible II, and Face/Off. He most recently directed The Crossing, a two-part saga released in 2014 and 2015 in Asia.
