March’s Free Games: PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold

Another month has come and gone; we’re already starting the 3rd month of 2016. Time is moving fast, but that just means more free games for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold members. First up is the Xbox One. Right now until March 31st gamers can download Sherlock Homes: Crimes and Punishments. Sherlock Holmes is an adventure game bringing players to crime scenes and pitting their wits against the clues left behind by the culprits. With various conclusions you can draw from the clues, Sherlock Holmes doesn’t make finding the culprit easy or straightforward. On the 16th, Lords of the Fallen becomes available. Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG that draws some inspiration from the Souls series, such as interconnected environments, difficult and terrifying enemies, and slower tactical melee combat.

Xbox 360 has some nice selections with Supreme Commander 2 on March 1st to March 15th. Supreme Commander 2 is a real-time strategy game that is heavy on the story as well as the strategy. Last and not least is Borderlands starting March 16th until the 31st. The game that defined shoot & loot, Borderlands may be a little old, but that it’s still fun to play and packs a lot of content. Plus it has Claptrap, so there’s that.

The votes are in for the PlayStation 4… and Broforce is the player’s choice game of March. Along with the unbridled machismo that is Broforce, comes Galak-Z. Broforce brings the 80’s action with characters inspired from some of the biggest names of the era (i.e. John Rambro). It’s a side-scrolling action run-and-gun game with up to four players. Galak-Z on the other hand takes you to space for some two-dimensional spaceship combat and randomly generated levels.

PlayStation 3 is getting the Last Guy and Super Stardust HD, while the PlayStation Vita gets Flame Over and Reality Fighters. The Last Guy is a top-down mass-rescue game where the player must save civilians in monster infested cities. Super Stardust HD is what I would describe as Asteroids on crack. Players must fly around a spherical map, destroying various asteroids and alien enemies in a desperate attempt to survive. Flame Over bring a unique premise to the month of March. Its a fire fighting game that pits players against fire itself in an attempt to extinguish the fire before it engulfs the house… and you. Lastly, we have Reality Fighters. A game that is 100% as literal as it’s name suggests. Reality Fighters is a fighting game featuring… you. Players can take a photo of themselves, upload it, and edit it to create an in game fighter and duke it out with with other players.
