Martin Sheen returning: Amazing Spider-man casting news

It appears that Martin Sheen will be returning in the Amazing Spider-man 2 as uncle Ben. He discussed and announced his return in the “Late late toy show” in an interview with Ryan Tubridy. To see the interview Visit the Late show site.

Simply scroll down and click play if you want to find the part where specifically Martin Sheen comes on it’s at about 39:50. It’s quite a long interview with Sheen and quite interesting he speaks of various views about fame v politics v public service. He also talks about the idea of a public persona and how people equate it to success. Along with touching on his son and other works he is currently working on.

On the Spider-man topic he briefly said “I don’t know what the part is going to be, but I’m going to be Uncle Ben next year”. He then later said that they will be shooting in February.

It’s interesting to wonder what his role could be? I think that it will likely be some variety of flash back sequences. Possibly similar to those in Spider-man 3? Is that a good thing? It will be interesting to see what exactly his role will be and how it influences Peter Parker and his motivations.
