Mega Man Movie Reportedly In Development

A Mega Man movie might be in development at 20th Century Fox if a report from The Tracking Board proves true.

Chernin Entertainment is said to be involved in the production. With Fox, they’ve developed the two recent Planet of the Apes films as well as Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings. Fox and Chernin are currently working together on the Tim Burton fantasy adventure Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children set for March 4, 2016 and the third Apes movie, War of the Planet of the Apes, with a July 14, 2017 release.

In the games, the player plays as the robotic Mega Man. Once to be used as a harmless personal assistant for his creator Dr. Light, Mega Man was converted to a battle robot after Dr. Light’s old partner, Dr. Wily, goes mad and creates an army of robots with the goal to take over the world.

The first Mega Man game was released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and has spawned over 50 games on various consoles. The series has sold thirty million units as of June 30, 2015. Over the years, the franchise has made its way to comics, novels, anime, and a 90’s animated TV show.

If more news of a Mega Man movie emerges, you can bet your mega buster it will be covered at Resident Entertainment.
