Paramount is reportedly turning their Transformers franchise into a Marvel-style cinematic universe.
Deadline is reporting that the studio is negotiating with Akiva Goldsman (the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “A Beautiful Mind” and the Razzie-nominated screenwriter of “Batman and Robin”) to work with franchise director Michael Bay, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, on creating a “writer’s room” that will work together to create Transformers spinoff films.
Even though last year’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction” grossed over $1 billion worldwide, its domestic grosses were the lowest the franchise has seen by far. Adding in the fact that the Transformers movies have gone terribly with critics, it makes sense for Paramount to try something new with the franchise long before it’s dead in the water.
A fifth Transformers film is slated for June 24, 2016.
