SimCity is now the most selling SimCity game in the series with already 1.1 million copies sold in less the two weeks since the game launched. What’s interesting about it is that over half (54%) have been through EA’s orgin online store compared to the rest being sold as physical copies. Strong digital sales would likely be good for EA and its origin service and could possibly mark a future trend for PC gaming. Is digital sales the future of gaming? Could it ever replace physical copies? With SimCity digital looks to be more popular (just).
Peter Moore the COO of EA stated that there was an “overwhelming demand at launch that has us tracking well beyond expectations for the game”. SimCity users have also been quite active with the game since launch with more than 5.7 million original cities already built and 780 million buildings constructed. Now that’s progress!! Even more so that it’s enough construction work to cover the earth 40,000 times according to EA.
SimCity is the game where users are allowed to build and manage their own city in the game from scratch. You can position buildings pick the costs of those buildings, build parks, airports anything you can think of that’s in a city, SimCity will let you build it.
