Another well kept secret from EA! An official trailer being released of The Sims 4 coming to Xbox One and PS4 this November. With minimal information available at the moment, we know the date and some of the features of The Sims 4 on console but I am interested to find out how they plan on making this one special from the previous console games.

The Sims 3 was released in 2010 on PS3, Wii , DS and Xbox 360. While these days it’s a “hard to get a hold of”, cult classic, it was never a great game on each console. Let’s be real here… The Sims is never translated the quite the same on console, but the couch gamers want it! The demand for The Sims on console is so high that there was no doubt that The Sims 4 was eventually going to make it to next gen — I am excited to see what features they can add in order to translate from the PC to Console.

Online gaming? Custom content? Of course the Gallery could still be an option — but personally, I can’t see the appeal of playing sims on a console. Call me old fashioned, but I will always prefer my Sims on a PC. The Sims 4 (compared to The Sims 3) is very compatible with older laptops and PC’s, so I would always recommend gamers to check out the PC version even if they had only played it on console before and enjoyed the franchise. PCs have a lot more to offer to The Sims, so I hope EA have their thinking caps on! Gaming families who don’t own a gaming PC will sometimes have a tablet (or smart device), so it really makes sense that The Sims 4 on Mobile should be tied up with this release. After all, it’s about bringing The Sims to everyone!!

My one question is “What about the Nintendo Switch?” I know it is still early days for the Nintendo hybrid, but I feel like if there was a great platform to employ The Sims, it would definitely be this touch screen, portable gaming device greatness! Hopefully EA’s presentation at Gamescon next month will spill some more info about The Sims 4 on Console.
