Sony E3 2013: Conference Summary

The show opens with a musical montage and video images of everything PlayStation.

Jack Tretton from Sony takes the stage as the first presenter.

Starts talking about the PlayStation Vita. “People love vita once they get their hands on it” with 60% of purchases made through the digital store.

The development community will continue to support the system with over 80 titles to be released. These include things like Batman Arkham origins, Final Fantasy X and X-2, The Walking Dead.

“PS4 was developed at a system architecture level to connect to vita” – Jack Tretton

Jack Tretton then moves on to discussing the PS3

We then are to take a look at what is coming to the Ps3. We are shown a trailer for the PS3 exclusive game; The Last Of Us.

We are then shown a trailer for Puppeteer and Rain both exclusive.

Followed by another trailer for the PlayStation exclusive Beyond: Two souls

Another trailer is then shown for the PlayStation exclusive Gran Turismo 6

A video is then shown for the new Batman Arkham Origins, a release date 25/10/2013 is shown.

Exclusive GTA 5 bundle announced for PS3 for $299

Tretton then moves on to talking about the PS4

Andrew House now takes the stage to talk about the PS4

The PlayStation 4 is then shown

Micheal Lynton now takes the stage

He talks about integrating the Sony Entertainment businesses with the PlayStation products. Such as Crackle, Music Unlimited. The types of movies that Sony Pictures have made such as Resident Evil and Spider-Man.

Says Sony “is hard at work at a programming plan for the PS4”, “sony is one of the largest entertainment brands in the world” says Lynton

Andrew House returns to the stage

Says Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited will both be available on day one. Also includes Netflix and Amazon TV will also be available. Also for American customers RedBox will be available. Beginning in fall Flixster will be available on PlayStation.

House then moves us into looking at PlayStation 4 in terms of gaming

Shu Yoshida now occupies the stage

Talks about social media and how it is used to find out what people like or do not like.

Introduces a new IP exclusive to the Ps4; called The Order 1886

A video is then shown displaying 4 more exclusive titles for the PS4

It includes; Killzone Shadow fall, Drive Club, Infamous Second Son and Knack. All of these will be available for launch with the console except for Killzone shadow fall which will be in Q1 2014.

A new game from Quantic Dream called the dark sorcerer is then shown for the PS4

Adam Boyes now takes the stage

Sort of starts talking about integrating smaller developers and independents

Two guests from Super giant games join the stage and show off a new game for the PS4, they are the developers of  Bastion. It has a good soundtrack, looks visually creative. It’s called Transistor, due in 2014.

“We are offering developers the ability to self publish their own content” – Adam Boyes

Welcomes new developers such as Clay Entertainment, Tribute games, Rag Tag Studios, Oddworld Inhabitants, 17 bit games

All of the games from these developers will debut exclusively for Ps4.

Now we move to BlockBuster games

Mentions Diablo 3 and its exclusive items

Square Enix joins the show, shows us something new; It’s a new Final Fantasy game

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD remix is then shown

Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 both announced and exclusive to the PS4

We then get to watch some interesting gameplay footage for the new Assassins Creed game.

We are now taken to another Watch Dogs demonstration from Ubisoft; it looks very interesting and graphically realistic in its appearance.

2K games and Lebron James show off the next generation graphics. The facial movements on the players look particularly interesting and realistic.

The Elder Scrolls games from Bethesda are to receive a new chapter called the Elder Scrolls Online; the Beta will be exclusively available first for PS4,

Mad Max the game is then shown as a trailer

Don’t require to be online to play, games on PS4 won’t stop working if you haven’t been online for 24 hours

Then moved on to talk about playstation plus and the PSN

“very focused on expanding the benefits of the service” – Jack Tretton

will be available for less than $5 per month

Drive Club will be available as part of the Instant Game collection on PS+ on day one of PS4

Plus members will get a new title every month for free from PS4

“PlayStation is all about games” – Tretton

Tretton then leaves so that Bungie can show the Gameplay for the new game Destiny running on the PS4.

The Cloud Service for the PlayStation 4 and the Vita will be available in 2014.
