“We will find hope in the impossible,” says Commander Spock (Zachary Quinto) in the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond, the 13th Star Trek film and the third starring Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk and Quinto as Spock.

In the trailer, we see the destruction of the USS Enterprise and our core branch of heroes, Bones (Karl Urban), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Scotty (Simon Pegg), and Sulu (John Cho), trapped on a planet filled with all sorts of aliens, evoking the usual goings-on in the original series that starred William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
The trailer also gives us a great look at Sofia Boutella’s (Kingsman: The Secret Service) unnamed white alien character. We also hear the voice of Idris Elba’s unnamed villain. The actor is nowhere to be found in the trailer, but he could be voicing one of the alien characters briefly seen (Klingons?).

Directed by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 3-6, Community) and written by Doug Jung (Big Love) and Simon Pegg (writer/star of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
