Starcraft II Nova Covert Ops Mission Pack 2 Review

It’s been a few months since I went through the first mission pack for Nova Covert Ops and back then in my review, I was really looking forward to seeing what the second pack had to offer. Was it going to build on what we had? Was it going to be just the same thing? Will it be any fun? Would I be wondering if the pack was worth getting? I have to honestly say that after playing through part 2 of the pack, I was extremely happy with what I got with it.

The second part of the series will see you command Nova for three more missions. Some of these will be ones where you have to destroy something within a time limit, one where you are disabling certain enemy units and others where you’ll be trying to reach checkpoints by destroying more things. It was good fun and all three missions provide more than enough of a challenge to keep you busy for a few hours.

This mission pack will see you go up against both the Zerg and the Protoss and sometimes both at the same time. I found the difficulty level to be a bit higher than the first mission pack and actually for the first mission I failed the objective and had to repeat it. I found that I really enjoyed the challenge that I received from each of the three missions here and I’m happy to recommend the pack to someone looking to pick it up.

You do of course still only get a few hours of gameplay, but this second part to Nova Covert Ops felt much more satisfying than the first. A part of me kind of wishes that I could just play all the packs together at once, but these small installments are still a good time.  As I don’t play Starcaft II as much as I used too, it’s fun to be able to have something new to play with every once and a while and revisit the game that I love so much.

There’s still one more pack to go for Nova Covert Ops and I find myself to be really looking forward to the next three missions there and I do hope it’s even better than pack 2 was because if it is, then Nova Covert Ops the complete bundle will be a really great purchase for a Starcraft II fan. That is of course if Blizzard can continue to deliver. Let us hope!
