UPDATE: The Supergirl TV series has been confirmed by Greg Berlanti (executive producer of “Arrow” and “The Flash”). Talking to Comic Book Resources Berlanti says, “We’re just starting to work on it. We haven’t gone to the networks yet. I’ll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment.”

A Supergirl TV series is possibly in the works if sources from Bleeding Cool and E! can be believed.
Michael Green, who worked on the Supergirl New 52 comic book series and produced various episodes of Smallville and Heroes, is reportedly pitching the series. Where he’s pitching it to is unknown, although E! reports that it’s not to The CW where DC’s Arrow and The Flash are airing.
Kara Zor-El is the sole survivor of Argo City, a Kryptonian city which survived the explosion. When meteorites strike the surface of the planet releasing green kryptonite, her father, Zor-El, sends Kora to Earth to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, aka Superman.
Supergirl has appeared on-screen before. She infamously has her own feature film (where she was played by Helen Slater), and was referenced in Man of Steel when Clark is in the Fortress of Solitude and we see an open space pod (while that could be any Kryptonian character, the Man of Steel prequel comic has Kara leaving the pod). She also showed up in Smallville, played by Laura Vandervoort.
This follows Sony making a female-led Spider-Man spinoff movie, Marvel making an Agent Carter miniseries for ABC and a Jessica Jones Netflix mini-series, and DC bringing Wonder Woman to the big screen. About time.
DC has three new TV series airing this fall. Gotham will air on FOX on September 22, The Flash will air on The CW on October 7, and Constantine will air on NBC on October 24.
