Today at Gamescom there was some news for the upcoming Shadow Of The Tomb Raider game from Square Enix. The new game is being developed on the NVIDIA RTX platform and will be one of the first games this year to use a new feature known as real-time tracing for its rendering. Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of NVIDIA said “An iconic pop culture figure like Lara Croft deserves the cinematic treatment that ray tracing can deliver,”

A video was released in relation to the announcement which shows off some of the new graphical capabilities which Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is utilising.

The real-time tracing technology is a rendering technique available for the PC version of the game which will be available on Steam. Square Enix says “Long considered the definitive solution for realistic and lifelike lighting, reflections, and shadows, ray tracing offers a level of realism far beyond what is possible using traditional rendering techniques. Ray tracing has been used for years to pre-render life-like worlds in movies. Until now, it has been too demanding to be practical for real-time, interactive gaming, which requires fast frame rates and low latency.”

The game will utilise the power of the new graphics card line from NVIDIA to run these graphics as they are quite demanding. It’s recommended for those who have the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 2080, and 2070.

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider will release on September 14 2018. You can find copies of the game on Amazon Au right here.
