Tessa Thompson and more up for female lead in Han Solo movie

Tessa Thompson, Naomi Scott, and Zoe Kravitz are up for the female lead in the Han Solo movie.

The news comes from Variety, who also say that the search for Lando Calrissian is still on with the previously rumored Donald Glover as one of the top picks. The publication says production doesn’t start until early 2017.

Thompson is best known for her roles in Creed and Dear White People. She stars in HBO’s Westworld and will play Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. Scott appeared in The Martian and plays Pink Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot. Kravitz played Angel in X-Men: First Class and also appeared in Dope and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Hail, Caesar’s Alden Ehrenreich takes on Harrison Ford’s iconic role with The LEGO Movie and Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller behind the camera. Co-writer on Star Wars 5, 6, and 7, Lawrence Kasdan, wrote the script with his son, Jon.

The untitled Han Solo movie currently carries a May 25, 2018 release date. Before that, we’ll get Rogue One on Dec. 16 and Star Wars: Episode VIII on Dec. 15, 2017.
