The Accountant 2 is a movie which comes directed by Gavin O’Connor who also directed The Accountant (2016). This movie stars Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson and J.K. Simmons. The Accountant 2 has a run time of 2 hours and 4 minutes.
This movie I feel like is one of the surprises of 2025. With the first movie, I didn’t really love it that much, I thought it was just an okay action movie. I forgot about it after that and I was surprised when I saw the trailer for The Accountant 2 a few weeks ago. I never expected a sequel. However, now that I’ve seen The Accountant 2, I was surprised how good it was. It’s definitely my favourite action movie of 2025 so far, but we’re only in April so there’s still a long way to go, but this is going to be hard to beat.
The movie’s storyline focusses on an unsolved and puzzling crime. Only Christian Wolff, The Accountant (Ben Affleck) is able to work on this case, due to its puzzling complexity. Christian’s mind is able to put it all together, but it’s not easy. Christian calls his brother, Braxton (Jon Bernthal) to assist with taking down the bad guys.
Unlike many action movies that get released recently, The Accountant 2 is not a one man army action movie. You’re not going to see Ben Affleck take down hordes of criminals with his fists or with his guns. You will instead see Ben Affleck do that with Jon Bernthal by his side. This is a two man army action movie! I love that, it’s so refreshing. Who doesn’t like Jon Bernthal either? He’s great with a gun.
The actors in this are all great. Ben Affleck is excellent this time and the chemistry with Jon Bernthal is excellent. I enjoyed both of their performances a lot. A lot of the other actors in the movie are also good and the world in general was believable. I didn’t feel like they really went too far with anything and that’s probably a credit to Gavin O’Connor’s directing for The Accountant 2.
This is a action movie first before anything else and if you’re wanting to go see an action movie at the cinema this week, The Accountant 2 needs to be at the top of your list. In terms of movies released this month, there’s nothing better than this to see at the cinema.
Gavin O’Connor did put in some funny parts too, the movie starts like a comedy actually before things get serious. Throughout the movie, there’s moments where things do lighten up a little bit. There’s a good balance there for these things.
There’s not much more to say about The Accountant 2. This movie creates one of those moments when someone asks you ‘what’s this movie like?’ and all you can say really is that ‘it’s good’. There’s just not much else to say about it. It’s a rare time when I think the sequel is better than the original movie as well. The actors are all great and the story is actually interesting. Action movie fans will enjoy The Accountant 2 the most.
