The Last Of US PS4 Trailer & Thoughts

The Last Of Us is coming to the PlayStation 4 and many who have owned a PlayStation 3 before will likely have played through the game in its entirety. I myself bought and played through the game and loved it so much I gave it a 10/10 in my review which you can read right here.

But now the game is returning and some might be thinking should they even buy it for a second playthrough. I myself do not intend to purchase this game at all on the PS4 because even though the graphics might be improved and made better and really only slightly better on the new console, it’s not the reason I see for purchasing the game.

When I played this game on the PS3, for me it was all about the story and following the characters. The reality of the situations faced throughout my first playthrough and how I chose to play things out is something that I think can’t be repeated. I have only completed the game once since I have had it and that was for my first playthrough. I have not once felt the need to go through and replay the story, even though it occurs to me every now and again to do it, I just don’t do it. For me the experience of the first playthrough for this game was more than enough and I don’t see any reason to repeat it, for me it was perfect.

While I did replay some of the chapters after I had completed it, replaying them felt more like completing challenges rather than playing through the story, (I mainly just did it quickly to check out the hardest difficulty). How quick could I get through a level? Or how quickly could I kill everything now that I know where everyone will be? While there is I hear a new difficulty level for the game, I don’t see it as really the point of the Last Of Us. For me the game was and always has been about the story and the characters. Surviving through the game with them and using your wits here and there made the experience. Getting to know Joel and Ellie and everyone else is The Last Of Us experience and you can do that on the PS3 without a problem.

I don’t tend to read a really good book a second time and I don’t intend to play through this story a second time. I don’t know how many other people feel this way about the game, but if I want to replay it, I can just play it again on my PS3. I can’t see any reason to buy it again, unless you are a true hardcore fan or really just play for graphics alone. But for me, this does nothing. I will happily keep my version of The Last Of Us on my shelf for a long time though as it’s one of the best games on the PS3.

If you haven’t played the game then go for the PS4 one as you will likely get a better experience, but you could also just save yourself a lot of money and just get the original really cheap right now. If you want to compare the two games, you can check out the trailers right here. It’s your choice, if you haven’t played the game before, it’s a great game. But for me, I’ve already got the version I want and I thought it was perfect, I don’t want a slightly improved one.
