Three Kingsman Movies and a TV Show Are On the Way

Two Kingsman movies have been released, and that’s not even half of what’s being planned for the franchise.

Kingsman filmmaker Matthew Vaughn told Empire that three Kingsman movies and an eight-hour TV show are in the works.

We’ve already known that Vaughn and his co-writer and co-producer, Jane Goldman, were planning two more Kingsman movies after the second one. Now, it looks like we’re getting a bit more than that.

Aside from a third film to follow 2017’s Kingsman 2, which Vaughn says will serve as “the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship”, two spin-off movies are now in development.

The first spin-off, titled Kingsman: The Great Game, will shoot back-to-back with Kingsman 3. Great Game will feature what the Kingsman spy organization looked like in the early years of the 20th century. The Empire report didn’t say when that shooting would begin.

The other spin-off movie will focus on the Statesman, an American spy division introduced in Kingsman 2. According to the article, the movie will “[follow] the world of Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry’s American agents.” Whether that means those actors are involved or that literally means just “the world” of those characters remains to be seen.

Finally, Vaughn said “an eight-hour Kingsman TV show” is on the way too. No word on what TV channel or streaming service this would air on, especially if the show follows the R-rated violence and language of the movies. Although, that would seriously give some life to Disney’s ABC Family if you ask me.

It’s also a bit unclear if Vaughn is directing or writing all these projects just as he has for the two Kingsman movies, or if he will be serving in a producer role.

We’ve known a third Kingsman movie to follow-up Kingsman 2 was being planned while Kingsman 2 was being written. And, right before the release of Kingsman 2 in September, Vaughn said the Kingsman franchise could go on with spin-offs beyond that third movie. He wasn’t kidding.

Kingsman: The Secret Service was released in theaters in 2015 and was followed by a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, in 2017. The movies star Taron Egerton and Colin Firth as super spies for the British government foiling villainous plans to add serious chaos to the world. Both movies racked up over $400 million at the box office and are among the highest-grossing R-rated movies ever made.

All of these projects might be far away though. Vaughn said he’s also prepping a reboot of the Kick-Ass movies and Egerton is starring as his Kingsman 2 co-star, Elton John, in a musical called Rocketman that’s slated to come out May 17. Vaughn said in this report that his production company is also involved in Rocketman and he calls it “the first R-rated musical” that’s loaded with “drugs, sex, rock’n’roll.”

If that Elton John musical isn’t one of these Kingsman movies, then I’m going to be upset.
