Thunderbolts is a movie which comes directed by Jake Schreier. Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Geraldine Viswanathan. The movie has a run time of 2 hours and 6 minutes.
Thunderbolts is the latest movie in the long running Marvel Cinematic Universe. Going to see a Marvel movie at the cinema used to be one of my favourite things to look forward to in terms of movies at the cinema. The early phase 1 movies were all fantastic and it was always so exciting every time a new one was released. In the last I’d say 2 years. things have really taken a bit of a slide and they’ve had few great movies. It’s at at point I think where expectations from a lot of people have been lowered when going to see these movies at the cinema.
Thunderbolts luckily is actually very good. After watching the movie I felt that it brought some of the old feelings of the old MCU that I loved. Things that have long been absent from the franchise.
The main thing I felt that put Thunderbolts ahead of previous MCU films was the dialogue. The character conversations and banter between the different characters in the Thunderbolts team was excellent. This cast works well together and their characters somehow interact in a very entertaining way. I would expect that if this movie does do well at the box office, then there’s a strong chance we’re seeing these characters again.
The story of this movie is all about setting up what the ‘Thunderbolts‘ team is. It’s a team up movie similar the The Avengers or Suicide Squad. Many of the characters are known already from previous MCU stories, but they’ve not been brought together in this way. I think this is why the banter between the characters/actors was so important to make this movie good. If it wasn’t good, this would be a disaster.
The action scenes are good for a movie in this genre. For comic book movie fans, there’s a great fight scene about three quarters in where the entire Thunderbolts team will fight alongside each other and it’s the highlight of the action experience. It’s a decent comic book movie fight and I think fans of Marvel films will be happy with it. As a for the film as a whole though, I thought it was a little light on action sequences. They are there, but because there’s been so many comic book movies, what’s in Thunderbolts isn’t anywhere near the biggest.
There’s not much more to dwell on with Thunderbolts. If you’re an MCU fan, this movie is a must see. For general audiences, this movie will give you some action sequences to enjoy. But if you’re looking for something with some bigger action sequences then The Accountant 2 which is currently also in cinemas has a bit more of this.
