With Gamescon showing us some cool content and the Oscar movie season on the way, August got a sweet load of trailers.
GAMES
Deep Down got a new teaser this month. All we knew about the game was that it was a fantasy RPG. This teaser reveals some new details. First one being the fact that the game could have a horror side to it but the big one is the “Capcom Online Games” logo that appears in the beginning of the teaser. Could the game be an MMO? Could it have an online program like Demon and Dark Souls? Could there be co-op? We don’t know. What we do know is that Deep Down is coming exclusively to the PS4 at an unknown date.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney got a new trailer this month. I wasn’t too big on the Professor Layton games as I’m not a puzzle game fan and I’ve never played an Ace Attorney game before. Why am I talking about this then? Because this needs to happen more. Two gaming franchises coming together for a release. Imagine Lara Croft and Nathan Drake hunting for treasure, Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter taking down some aliens (no, PlayStation Move Heroes doesn’t count), and button mashing the hell out of a God of War and Devil May Cry crossover. What a great world that would be. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a 3DS exclusive and has been out in Japan since November 29, 2012 and is coming to America and the PAL region in 2014.

Rayman Legends got an awesome trailer this month (especially if you’re a Kill Bill fan). The trailer shows off one of the game’s music levels and instead of talking about the actual trailer, which speaks for itself, I want to commend Rayman Legends for being creative with music. Games like Sound Shapes, Runner 2, and Guitar Hero fall into the same category. More games need to do cool things with music like Raman Legends which is already out on the PS3, Vita, X360, Wii U, and PC in Australia and Europe and comes to America on September 3, Europe on September 12, and Japan on September 13 for the Wii U only.

MOVIES
Don Jon got its second trailer this month. The movie might not look like much but I’ll take anything that jabs the cliché romantic comedies out there right now. A movie that can subtly make fun of that genre and the people that watch it while being its own great film will be a sight to see and I hope Don John does just that when it opens in theaters on September 27.

Machete Kills got its second trailer this month. The first Machete was basically a joke but the sequel looks like it will take things to a whole new level. You have to really appreciate the movies that aren’t going for Oscars and just want to make you laugh and have a great time at the theater. Machete Kills looks to be one of those films and I really hope it delivers when it comes out on October 11.
