Andrew House and Mark Cerny from PlayStation talk about the last 20 years at Sony and what it was like working for the company over the years. They discuss the start of the PlayStation product idea and also the content distribution strategy of discs which launched with the PlayStation One.
It’s an interesting video for people who are more interested in the business side of the industry as it goes through the creation of the business model, especially in the beginning for Sony in an industry that was dominated by Nintendo and Sega. They also touch a little bit on their vision and working together as a team to achieve what they were imagining. They also had the challenge of changing consumer perception away from thinking games were just for children to something that was for entertainment for all consumers and not simply an extension of the toy market.
