Watch: Batman Arkham Knight Trailer

BATMAN IS BACK!

The best superhero video game franchise is getting another, and possibly final installment. As it is the last game planned in the Arkham trilogy; the stakes are higher, the city is bigger, and Batman is cruising… and bruising in his shiny new Batmobile.

The trailer shows mostly CG cutscenes, but does transition into actual in-game gameplay footage towards the end. As someone who knows little about the Batman comics, the mysterious villain in the trailer sent me on a bit of an internet search. It turns out this is a completely new villain Rocksteady has made. It will be interesting to see what this character can do with no prior comic book material to work from. I for one am confident they can pull it off.

Here’s the official synopsis, via the Youtube video:

“Scarecrow returns to Gotham City to unite the Rogues Gallery in a master plan to destroy the Batman once and for all. When the citizens of Gotham are forced to flee, the remaining criminal gangs converge to take control of the city. Undermanned and overpowered, Batman aims to even the odds by bringing his legendary Batmobile to the fight. This showdown between criminal masterminds and the Dark Knight will decide the future of the city that Batman is sworn to protect.”

Batman Arkham Knight hits store shelves this fall. Currently, there’s only a specific release date for North America, October 14th, however the Australian and PAL regions should get their version around the same time. Lastly, for those who have not made the jump to next generation consoles…. you’re out of luck. Arkham Knight will only be available on PC, PS4, and the Xbox One. This is good news for early console adopters as there have only been a few AAA titles built from the ground up exclusively for next gen.
