Both Demon’s Souls and its spiritual successor, the Dark Souls franchise, have brought brutally tough action-RPG gameplay to a wider audience. Sony’s upcoming PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne is looking to challenge players as they survive and fight in a brutal environment. From Software, the developer behind Demon Soul’s and Dark Souls, will be partnering with SCE Studio Japan to develop Bloodborne. With the director Hidetaka Miyazaki overseeing the project, it means good news for fans of this growing gaming genre.
Bloodborne takes place in an ancient fictional city called Yharnam. This city is said to possess a medical remedy that can cure any ailment, as a result, many have ventured into the city seeking its cure. The main protagonist of Bloodborne arrives in Yharnam for the very same reason. However, Yharnam is cursed and its populace has been turned into terrifying monsters.

Bloodborne also takes a different route with its presentation, forgoing the Demon/Dark Souls medieval setting for a Gothic-Victorian design. The game doesn’t have a set release date, but is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2015.
