E3 is right around the corner and Sony has released a trailer for an upcoming game EarthNight (yes, its one word). This year has already seen some spectacular download-only games such as Child of Light and Transistor. With online downloads becoming so prevalent its much easier to get these games to the masses; no discs, no shipping, and no middle man. Its hard to imagine that a game such as EarthNight getting funding for a physical release. But during modern gaming, its possible:

The game’s premise consists of the Dragon Apocalypse; an event in which dragons have driven humans off the planet. Nearly all of the video is comprised of gameplay footage. EarthNight is a rogue-like running game featuring simple controls, but promises plenty of depth and challenge. Gameplay looks fast and elegant, alternating between skydiving and running on the backs of dragons. Oh, did I mention that every element in this game is entirely hand-painted? Yup, just another reason to keep an eye on it. Its slated for release some time in 2014 on the PS4, then on the PS Vita in 2015.
