As promised Square Enix is bringing their successful MMO to the PS4. The game is exactly the same as the PS3 and PC versions, however PS4 boasts improved graphics over the PS3 version and makes use of the Vita remote play feature. FFXIV will also make use of the PS4’s touchpad, as well as keyboard and mouse functionality.
According to Final Fantasy XIV’s Lodestone website there will be two beta testing sessions. The first session will run from February 22nd to March 3rd, and players cannot use their preexisting character from the PS3 version. The second session will start on April 4th and run until the 7th, and will be able to use preexisting characters from the PS3 version. Look for the game to be officially released on April 14, 2014. Players who purchased the game on the PS3 will be able to download the PS4 version for free.
