The highly anticipated game from Bastion creators SuperGiant Games is finally here. Transistor was released world wide this week on May 20th/21st; so no need to worry about those pesky release dates. As a console exclusive, it’s currently only available on the PS4. There hasn’t been word of an Xbox One release, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility. However, it is also available on PC via Steam.
Transistor follows Red, a famous singer resident of the city Cloudbank. Important voices across the city have been snuffed out, now its Red turn. After a failed attempt on her life, she comes across a sword – Transistor – buried into the chest of a man once close to Red. Her voice, along with those of its slain have wound up inside Transistor.

Transistor is a beautifully stylized action RPG. Gameplay revolves around pausing the world around you and executing attacks within a brief time period. Players only have so many moves/skills, or Functions as referred to in the game, before the world un-pauses. What results is an action RPG that relies on planning and strategy when using these Functions. Players can also gain XP after battle, allowing her to unlock or upgrade different Functions.
