From Ni No Kuni in January to Tales of Xillia in August, 2013 has seen plenty of great JRPG’s. Ys: Memories of Celceta is another JRPG getting a release outside of Japan. The Ys series, developed by Nihon Falcom, has been around for quite some time; the first being released on the PC way back in 1987. Ys is an action RPG series that follows an adventurer named Adol Christin who, well… goes on adventures! There are recurring themes and characters, but each game is a self contained narrative. New players can pick up any game in the series and play without knowing prior events of previous games. This game in particular, a re-imagining of Ys IV, starts with Adol losing all of his memories.
Ys: Memories of Celceta is confirmed for release in North America on November 26th. Sadly, the Eurpean release date has been pushed back to early 2014, and there is not word about an Australian release date. The good news is that the Playstation Vita is region free, allowing fans of the series to import the game if need be. For those willing to spend a little more, the Silver Anniversary Edition costs $59.99 and comes with the game, a 120 page art/map/strategy book, a 3 CD music selection spanning the entire series, a cloth map of Celceta, and finally a Ys compass.
