‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel Gets New Title, Chris Pine Returns

“Wonder Woman 2” is now Wonder Woman 1984 and Chris Pine is confirmed to (somehow) return.

Warner Bros. made the title change and released two set photos on Wednesday. One of the pictures features Pine’s character wearing a Members Only jacket while walking in a mall. His character looks as confused as you are, I’m sure. The film’s director, Patty Jenkins, released the image on her Twitter page.

The other picture features our hero, Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman aka Gal Gadot, looking at a wall of TVs. Gadot posted the image on her social media pages.

Chris Pine blew himself up 70 years ago and he still looks better than you.

His character sacrifices himself in a fiery explosion at the end of the first movie, and that was during World War I. It looks like we’ll have to wait and see how he still looks like a 37-year-old Chris Pine decades after his last appearance. And he was last seen as a bunch of ash.

Gadot and Pine are the only confirmed cast members to return from the last movie. Newcomers include Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), who is confirmed to play the villain Cheetah, and a rumored Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) in a big role. Jenkins returns to direct and is said to receive the highest payday ever for a female director to do so.

Wonder Woman was a monster of a blockbuster last year. It was the biggest movie of summer 2017 for domestic audiences and ended up as the 10th biggest movie of the year worldwide.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on Nov. 1, 2019. Before that, DC Comics fans will see Aquaman on Dec. 21 and Shazam! on Apr. 5.
