Evil Dead Rise is a film which comes directed by Lee Cronin. It stars Mirabai Pease, Richard Crouchley, Anna-Maree Thomas, Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland and Morgan Davies.
The Evil Dead is a horror franchise that’s been around for a very long time. It has a whole bunch of devoted fans and people out there who love it. For some reason, I’ve never gotten into this franchise. I’ve known about it and seen bits of it on TV every once and while but I never watched it in full. So this was really my first Evil Dead experience.
The film is what I expected it to be. It’s a super gory horror film about some body possessing demons that terrorize families. The story is fairly straight forward and it doesn’t take long to get things going. For a horror movie, it’s fairly standard for this aspect.
The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was how it looked. It has a strange colour filter over it that I thought made it look quite washed out. It’s a bit too strong that filter.
If you like a lot of gore, this film will definitely entertain you. It’s almost too much for me, but I really enjoyed it. This film probably has the most action-based gore scenes of any movie in 2023 and I can’t really recall any movie I’ve seen recently that even comes close to this level of gore. I didn’t really find this film scary, but enjoyed all the messy gore quite a bit.
There’s not too much more to say about this film. It’s a fun time at the cinema and it’s a pretty straightforward experience that you can expect. If you love horror movies and think something with a lot of gore is what you need to see this weekend, then this movie has you covered. It’s a bunch of fun and there’s some good performances in there from Alyssa Sutherland and the rest. Hope you enjoy the film!
