News: The Sims 4 Update and Get Famous Expansion Pack | Resident Entertainment

The Sims 4 latest update and Get Famous Expansion Pack are both expected this week. Get ready, the stars are about to shine.

The Sims 4 Dev Team (also known as the SimGuru’s) have been quite productive in the last few months. Monthly streams provide information. They have also demonstrated some of the new (and FREE) additions to The Sims 4 on PC in the Get Famous update which will be available this week. Some new features were announced a few weeks ago; including a new Active Career; Fashion Stylist, Terrain Tools and the new Point of View Camera.

Style Influencer Career

Your sims can now work in design in the Style Influencer Career. Similar to the Social Media, Politician and Critic Career that was introduced in The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack, this career is “work at home”. Creative sims will flourish in daily tasks and assignments to take them from “Rag Reviewer” to the equivalent of Style Superstar. A new sketchpad item will also be available that works like a “portable easel” which is a great way for artists to take their work with them. The artwork can be dropped into any sims inventory, or onto walls like normal. The best part of this new addition is the option to literally “influence” other sim’s style. Sims can now discuss outfits, start trends and even offer make-overs to other sims.

Terrain Tools

One of the major elements missing from The Sims 1, 2 and 3 Build Mode was the ability to edit the ground that your sims stand on. With the new Terrain Manipulation Tool coming in the latest update, builders can take it to the next “level” and build on hills, slopes, ledges anything you can think of. It looks like a simple “push and pull” manipulation, so hopefully, there can be some great creations on the gallery soon.

First Person View Camera

Brand new to The Sims 4 is the new First Person View Camera. We can now see into The Sims mind… sort of. By pressing SHIFT while in game, will bring up a new camera mode, similar to a “First Person” mode. For the first time ever we can see what our sims are doing from their perspective. Woohoo!

The new update will be available from the 14th of November. Please make sure to do the usual “back up” and remove CC prior to starting your game after updating.

The Sims 4 News August 2019 – Patch Update for PC and MAC

Published

on

With a new pack on the horizon, there’s always a new patch around the corner. The Sims 4 are updating PC and Mac with some funky features to keep your photographs looking fresh.

The main update to the game allows us to move the photo frames to surfaces, such as counters, desks, end tables, etc. The sims team first teased this back in the StrangerVille video, and finally, it is in our games. One of my favourite things to do is read the patch notes because The Sims 4 team love to poke fun of their bugs.

Here are a few of my favourites from this month’s update:

“Sims can no longer Serenade other Sims through a wall.”

“Walls will now show in photographs taken in basements without stairs. Why you may have a basement without stairs is none of our business.”

“The boat at the lighthouse in Brindleton Bay now has a “travel with…” interaction, because the boat was lonely and wanted to travel with you.”

Luckily enough, we also have some additions to the “Off the Grid” trait which was added in The Sims 4 Island Living Game Pack. it’s good to see that they are constantly updating, adding and upgrading things in The Sims.

And don’t forget! The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff Pack will have a worldwide release for tomorrow (our 14th of August).

“The Sims 4: Get Famous” Expansion Pack Review

Published

on

Are you ready to Get Famous?

Taking inspiration from The Sims 1 Superstar and The Sims 3 Showtime, your sims can now be famous! Starry-eyed sims can flaunt their talent, attend awards nights and even top secret VIP parties.

Del Sol Valley

A new world filled with Bright Lights and Big City Dreams awaits. Featuring alikeness to Tinsel Town itself, Los Angeles including “Starlight Boulevard” with a Walk of Fame where your sims can solidify their “status” in the sidewalk. “The Pinnacles” is the Gated Community where the biggest names in all of Del Sol Valley reside. There is also a “downtown” area, complete with a shoddy neighbourhood vibe. This is where all aspiring sims to start their career close to the shine of the Big City. If your sim takes the career path of an Actor, they will be able to access the “career lot” to star in the next big commercial, or film on real set; complete with hair and makeup.

Acting Career

Your sims can be famous in many different ways. From painting and music to cooking and social media, but Acting is the new career in The Sims 4 Get Famous. Start out by finding a talent agency and they will provide you with a list of auditions that your sims can attend. Depending on your sim’s “talent” and skills, you might have to complete a few simple tasks to ensure they are getting the best opportunity from the audition. Once the audition is complete, your sim is invited to the Career lot to complete the audition. Starting in Hair and Makeup, on to Costumes, then your sim can put on a show on the main stage and WOW the director.

Create-A-Sim and Build and Buy Mode Additions

New items to hold up the theme of “Celebrity” include new furniture with a lavish style to flaunt your new wealth. Gold plated everything, even the toilet! My favourite is the “Mid Century” collection which goes quite well with The Sims 4 Bowling Stuff accents. Unfortunately, the clothing options for sims aren’t great in my opinion. Perhaps I am old fashioned, but I don’t understand the clothing choices. There are colours that don’t compliment each other (red and green, guys, really?) and some really tacky options in my opinion.

Perks and Quirks and Fame, OH MY!

From Notable Newcomer to Global Superstar; Your sims can get famous doing almost anything. Celeb sims gain Fame Points as they climb the ladder to stardom. Collect fame points by schmoozing with the rich and famous, plan publicity stunts, perform in public and signing autographs. The higher you climb on the ladder of fame, the more perks your Celebrity Sims will receive. Traits such as “Instant Besties”, “Networking” and “Star Treatment” are there to help make things easier for your sims, but there are also negative quirks to go along with the perks. “Vain Street” keeps your sims looking in mirrors, “No touching” means that a sim will become upset if someone touches them, and so on.

Search for Stardom

After playing this pack for a while, I did find it was quite repetitive and similar to other packs that The Sims team have already released. The Acting career is similar to the active careers from “Get Famous” and the Celebrity points are similar to the “Vampires” game pack. However, I do enjoy that you can be a “Bad” influence or a “Good” influence celebrity. Most of the items included are extravagant and absolute luxe. It would have been nice to see some more shabby-chic objects for those “wanna-be” starter celebs.  The other thing that almost “bothered” me about this pack is the starter neighbourhood, “Mirage Park”. There is only one lot that’s empty (and it’s HUGE) and the other has a very basic house pre-built. I feel like I need to spend more time on this one, but so far it does what it needs to do for a Celebrity Expansion Pack.

The Sims 4: Get Famous Expansion Pack is now available on EA Origin.

The Sims 4 News July 2019 – Latest Update with Free Content and a New LOOK

Published

on

“The Sims 4” is looking funky fresh with new branding and lots of free content in their newest update, coming to PC this week.

Can you believe it? The Sims 4 will celebrate its 5th anniversary this September! The Sims creators are adamant that they won’t be finishing The Sims 4 any time soon, so why not a facelift? After all, change is as good as a holiday. Instead of sticking with the same box art for another few years, the graphic artists have updated The Sims 4 to bring a fresh look to their branding. Keeping the iconic greens and blues, everything has a new look. This includes loading screens, front page, box art and even the famous “plumbob” has had a makeover.

Do you start up a game with good intentions, get to the Create-a-Sim screen, then suddenly go cross-eyed and draw a blank? Rejoice! The developers have added a new feature called Story Mode. This funky new feature allows you to “answer questions” about your upcoming “creation” and your responses will determine how they should live through their simulated life. Choices affect traits, aspirations, and even provide your new sims with skills to get ahead of the game.

The Sims Team also have news for the console Simmers out there. “The Sims 4: Island Living” (the latest expansion, released last month) will be available on console this week.

If this isn’t enough to get you excited about pixelated people again, how about 1000 new (sort of) unlocked OBJECTS!? Or… maybe 350 new swatches for doors? Some weird things are happening over at The Sims studios, but hey, I’m happy for free content.
