Studio 666 Review
I didn’t really know all that much about this film going into it, I knew a little bit about the Foo Fighters, but not really much. I had a look at the trailer before going to see this at the cinema and to be honest it got me excited. It’s a horror film, which I love so I had to go and see it, I love seeing any type of horror film at the cinema they’re always a bunch of fun. Studio 666 is also a bit of a comedy film as well and due to that, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and is a bit funny in some areas.
For people wondering what type of horror film this is, I’d say if you are going to go in there and want to be prepared beforehand, I’d say the thing you need to expect out of this one is quite a bit of gore, it’s a bit of a slasher film. The opening scene was I think the most violent in the movie and it was scarier than other scenes because no comedy was established yet, so I’d say it opens quite scary.
Once the Foo Fighters arrive in the film, it does turn into a bit of a comedy. The comedic elements of it help to tone down the gore and the violence. Rather than being something scary, you don’t get scared because it all becomes just kind of silly. While it might be silly for the most part, Studio 666 is still a lot of fun.
The acting is only really average, you can tell the band members aren’t professional actors, but they do their best with it. I enjoyed watching Dave Grohl though, you can tell he put a lot of passion into his role. As the writer of the film as well, I think he did his best and I like him for that. I’d definitely be interested in seeing Dave Grohl in another film or curious about what he’d write next were he to continue. To be honest, I was quite entertained with this film.
Overall I’d say that Studio 666 is a film you should go and see if you are a fan of the Foo Fighters. Any fan of the band would love this film, they all look like they had a great time making it. Dave Grohl was entertaining and I’d be happy to see more from him again. As a horror film, things aren’t taken too seriously and some of it does get a bit silly. However, the opening scene is quite scary and shocked me a little. I had a good time watching Studio 666 and I left the cinema with a smile, I’d recommend seeing it at the cinema this weekend if you’re looking for a bit of fun, something scary and also a little silly.
