The Pope’s Exorcist is a film which comes directed by Julius Avery who some may know as the director of Overlord (2018). The film stars Rusell Crowe, Daniel Zovatto, Alex Essoe, Franco Nero, Laurel Marsden and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney.
It’s been a big year for horror films with so many being released in recent months, I’ve started to enjoy going to the cinema to see them. This one is a supernatural horror film filled with demons, ghosts, the Devil and God. I like these supernatural films and am a big fan of the Conjuring universe and films like The Nun (2018).
I was looking forward to seeing The Pope’s Exorcist and seeing that Russell Crowe was involved, it led me to believe that the script might be good for this one. I’d say after seeing it, that it’s decent for a horror movie film.
For those going in to see this looking for something scary, or for something with a bit of action in there. This film certainly delivers that. At times, it may even overdeliver on this aspect with things going a little over the top at times. I found myself enjoying much of it, even though things get a bit crazy towards the end.
All the actors are good in this and Russell Crowe puts in a good effort for this one. I enjoyed the cast actually, everyone seemed to fit their roles quite well.
Overall The Pope’s Exorcist is a decent horror film and one that I think is a bit of fun to go and see this weekend. It gets a bit over the top sometimes, but at least you get a lot of action and some spooky scenes. I like the supernatural elements in this one and I’m happy I went to see it.
