This week on Blu-ray: Australia inherits one of 2013’s biggest films and one of its biggest bombs while America inherits another one of 2013’s biggest films and another one of its biggest bombs.
AUSTRALIA RELEASES
Despicable Me 2 comes to Blu-ray this week. The Steve Carell animation had a $76 million budget and currently has $906.2 million worldwide making the film a box office success and the current 27th highest grossing film of all time. Three different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D Blu-ray and Ultraviolet, another with a DVD and Ultraviolet, and a final one with just an Ultraviolet copy. The Lone Ranger rides home to Blu-ray this week. The Johnny Depp-Armie Hammer western had a $215 million budget and made $260.5 million in the box office making the film a mild success. The Blu-ray comes with a Digital Copy. We believe the film is worthy of a rental despite the awful reviews. You can read our full review right here.

Monsters University scares up Blu-ray this week. PIXAR’s latest had an unknown budget but currently has $742.8 million worldwide so the film is probably a box office success. Three different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy, another with a DVD and Digital Copy, and another with just a DVD. We consider the film one of the best of the year and you should check out that review right here.

R.I.P.D. livens up Blu-ray this week. The Ryan Reynolds-Jeff Bridges action adventure had a $130 million budget and made $76.2 million worldwide making the film a box office failure. Two different Blu-rays are available: one with 3D, DVD, Digital, and Ultraviolet copies and another with DVD, Digital, and Ultraviolet copies.

That’s it for this week on Blu-ray. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Australia’s average of films is a “Rotten” 53% while America has a “Rotten” 46% making Australia the winner. The highest rated movie was America’s Monsters University at a “Certified Fresh” 78% while the lowest rated film was America’s R.I.P.D. with a “Rotten” 13%.
