Blu-ray Releases: 4/6/14 – 4/12/14

This week on Blu-ray: both Australia and America have five new releases. Who has the best selection though? Let’s find out:

AUSTRALIA RELEASES

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues comes to Blu-ray this week. The Will Ferrell comedy had a $50 million budget and made $172.9 million worldwide. The Blu-ray doesn’t appear to come with any digital copies.

Battle of the Year comes to Blu-ray this week. The Chris Brown-Josh Peck drama had a $20 million budget and made $16.5 million worldwide. Two Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without but both come with Ultraviolet copies.

Delivery Man comes to Blu-ray this week. The Vince Vaughn comedy had a $26 million budget and made $51.1 million worldwide. The Blu-ray doesn’t appear to come with any digital copies.

Planes comes to Blu-ray this week. The Disney animation had a $50 million budget and made $219.7 million worldwide. Two Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without, but both come with Digital Copies.

AMERICA RELEASES

August: Osage County comes to Blu-ray this week. The Meryl Streep-Julia Roberts dramedy had an unknown budget and currently has $71.5 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy.

Grudge Match comes to Blu-ray this week. The Sylvester Stallone-Robert de Niro sports comedy had a $40 million budget and made $41.9 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy. We found the movie to be okay, read our review right here.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug comes to Blu-ray this week. The Martin Freeman-Ian McKellen fantasy had an unknown budget and currently has $949.5 million worldwide. Two different Blu-rays are available: one with a 3D copy and one without but both come with DVDs and Ultraviolet copies. We loved The Desolation of Smaug, check out that review right here.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones comes to Blu-ray this week. The horror flick had a $5 million budget and made $86.3 million worldwide. The Blu-ray comes with a DVD and an Ultraviolet copy.

SHARED RELEASES

Believe comes to Blu-ray this week. The Justin Bieber documentary had a $5 million budget and made $6.2 million in the box office. The Blu-ray doesn’t appear to come with any digital copies in Australia but is rocking a DVD and a Digital Copy in America.

That’s it for this week on Blu-ray. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Australia’s films average out to 40% while America’s films average out to 53% making Ameria the winner this week. The highest rated film was America’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with a “Certified Fresh” 75% while the lowest was Australia’s Battle of the Year with 6%.     Petey Oneto BryanWeatherall  I’ve seen both Hobbit’s but I want to watch them again, the trailer is very good! I haven’t seen any of the other movies here either though

    BryanWeatherall  Out of all the movies here, I’ve only seen Anchorman and Hobbit, both of which I recommend (but watch Hobbit 1 and Anchorman 1 first).

    wow smaug did well at the box office, so close to $1 billion, I guess add it to his loot. I don’t know what I’ll watch this week, maybe delivery man but would much prefer Hobbit
