Last weeks release of Interstellar saw it take the top spot at the Australian Box Office with $4.176 million for its opening weekend according to Roadshow Films. Interstellar in Australia is now Matthew McConaughey’s biggest film in the country and could be said by some to have solidified this year’s “McConaissance.”
In the United States however it was beaten out but Disney’s Big Hero 6 which took $56 million compared to Interstellar’s $47.5 million (according to Box Office Mojo). Disney’s Big Hero 6 is not due out in Australia until the 26th of December 2014.
