Josh Brolin has been cast as Cable in Deadpool 2.
The character is assumed to play a major role in the superhero sequel after being teased heavily in the first movie’s post-credits scene and having such a vital role in the Deadpool comics.
Star and producer Ryan Reynolds commented on the casting on Twitter, making a nod to Brolin’s casting as Thanos in Disney’s Marvel movies.
The fuck, Fox! You can’t play 2 characters in the same universe!! Josh Brolin was in Sicario and I was in Sabrina The Teenage Witch. pic.twitter.com/AQCRp1aWKg

Cable is the son of Scott Summers aka Cyclops aka James Marsden aka Prince Edward from Enchanted. Born with telekenetic and telepathic powers, Cable was sent into the future as a child to save his life and returned years later. The character has frequently been paired up with Deadpool in the comics.
Brolin is best known for his roles in No Country for Old Men, Men in Black 3 and Sicario. He is currently filming Avengers: Infinity War, and will next be seen in Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski’s firefighter thriller Granite Mountain on September 22 and then in the George Clooney directed Suburbicon with Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac on November 3. Sicario sequel Soldado and the comedy The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter are also expected to be released sometime this year with Brolin.
Deadpool 2 doesn’t have a release date yet but Fox has taken out March 2, 2018, June 29, 2018, November 2, 2018 and February 14, 2019 for Marvel movies, according to Box Office Mojo.
Brolin joins Reynolds in the superhero sequel with Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz as the mutant Domino, a frequent companion of Cable.
Deadpool 2 is directed by John Wick co-director David Leitch, replacing the original’s director Tim Story after he mutually departed after creative differences with Reynolds. The first film’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are back on screenplay duties.
