An animated Spider-Man movie is on the way from Sony.
Announced today at CinemaCon, the film will remain separate from the MCU with Phil Lord & Chris Miller (directors/writers of “The LEGO Movie” and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”) producing and writing the story treatment. Screenwriters and a director were not mentioned.
Phil Lord & Chris Miller are rumored to write the story treatment for Warner Bros. “The Flash” for their DC lineup and haven’t decided if they’ll take the directing job. The duo are also producing three LEGO films, animated comedy “Storks”, “23 Jump Street”, and writing “The LEGO Movie Sequel” set for May 18, 2018. Busy schedule, but the duo currently do not have plans to direct anything at the moment, and certainly have this as an option.
The animated Spidey film drops on July 20, 2018 while their live-action Spidey film hits July 28, 2017.
