When I first saw the trailer and inititally started looking into this film, I had really no interest in seeing it at all. The actors while somewhat known, aren’t well known for great films and the trailer itself was incredibly unappealing.
Once I got into the film, I found it to contain quite a few jokes which were laughable and while I don’t like to admit it, I was laughing quite a few times during its run time.
Where the film does have a problem though is that not everything will be jokes for everyone to enjoy and some may even hate the humour in this, especially the sex jokes and some of the others which may be detestable to some, but funny for others.
As a film, the plot is okay, it’s your basic detective story where you follow two incompetant people who somehow have a job, but can also somehow catch bad guys as well. It’s got some interesting characters and a more solid storyline than you would expect. Whether or not it is a memorable comedy is debatable, but to me, the film is mostly forgettable.
Overall, your choice to go and see this one really depends if this is the type of thing you’re interested. Maybe if you just really want to see a comedy this week, it’s not a bad watch. The humour in Chips is crude, but it’s not the worst comedy I’ve seen, it’ll make people laugh and that’s really the only reason this was made. It’s forgettable, but still fun enough if you want to go out and see it. But try to get some discount tickets if you’re worried about your dollars with this film.
