Caution: There Are Spoilers In The Walking Dead Swear Review

So the sixth episode of season seven of The Walking Dead just aired on TV around the world and I can’t believe we’re already in the sixth week, it seems not long ago when I was getting ready to watch episode one this year. Swear centres itself around Tara (Alanna Masterson) who as far as I know, hasn’t had an individual episode at all for the whole series. It also focuses a bit on Heath (Corey Hawkins) as well, the rest of the cast is pretty much missing though.

I never really paid much attention to the Tara character, she’s always been one of these ones that was always kind of around but never really seemed that important to me in the show, actually when I started watching this episode I had forgotten she was still part of it. But I’m glad they did make a Tara episode because it was something I wasn’t expecting and I think it was an episode that was a lot more like The Walking Dead I love to watch, this episode was all about survival.

It all starts off with Tara and Heath running into some trouble on a bridge, where a bunch of walkers happen to be. It looks like Heath gets overwhelmed there and Tara falls in the river, later to awake on shore in a strange place. I couldn’t care less if Heath dies or not in this episode, he isn’t really a great character. Heath’s gone after the start (it’s unknown if he’s dead or not) and we’re just left to follow Tara. She discovers a new group of people, comprised of all women and she’s gotta survive there and things get tough.

There’s a new character in the show now,  Cyndie (Sydney Park) who is actually quite good and I hope that there will be more from this character in The Walking Dead in the future. Sydney Park also did a great job for her debut with this character and seems to me to be a great addition to the cast. While we do get to learn a bit about the new group, it’s Cyndie who I think proves to be the most interesting one going forward.

By the time the episode ends, I feel I had come to know Tara’s character quite well and I truly enjoyed a more survival themed story of The Walking Dead. Sure it still has some echoes in there about how bad The Saviours are in that world, but that’s been something we’ve been hearing all season. This was a much better episode than last week’s and I hope the show can continue on being great going forward.
